Strange Majik has a Brand New Single!

Over the lockdown in NYC, David Pattillo and his son decided to put frustrations and isolation into a positive studio effort. This is one of his favorites from the upcoming collection of songs. It features the Righteous Wrongs: Owen Pattillo on bass and drums and Geoff Burke on a flurry of saxophones remotely from his own apt. “Can’t Remember to Forget You” drops October 20, 2020 everywhere. Strange Majik “20/20” available all digital outlets

Strange Majik’s new LP “20/20” (March 2020) is “marrying the rousing 70s rock sound like Roxy Music and David Bowie with thrilling, emotive blues” says euro blog Jansenjams. With classic instrumentation of drums, bass, guitar, wurly, organ and sax perhaps you can call it retro but Pattillo’s lyrics keep things modern. This is not a throwback to old times. The Deli Magazine calls Pattillo a ” blues rock cult hero in New York City” and says ” hearing Strange Majik groove under lyrics describing the breakbeat pace of modern living (“World On Fire”) and the surveillance state (“Whistleblower”) feels inherently anachronistic, a prediction of things yet to come hidden in dusty forgotten vinyl.”

Strange Majik drops new single “Starseed”

Strange Majik – Starseed – Released Sep 27, 2019

The new single from NYC’s producer David Pattillo is coming September 27, 2019. As a follow up to this summer’s “Livin’ In The Lights” it picks up the tempo in a funky blues guitar fueled interstellar romp. “We are seeing powerful women stand in society these days and Starseed is that woman of power – master of her craft and born of the stars.” Artwork @colormelurid.

Strange Majik releasing new single June 21, 2019

” I woke from a dream and sang this melody into my phone. As a huge fan of mid 70s Bowie, I wanted to capture the guitar based grooves when disco started to infiltrate rock ‘n’ roll. As in those times the band is organic, drums are live and the musicianship is impeccable. There’s even a nod to David Sanborn’s wah wah sax on Young Americans.

I kept the vocal raw with a minimum of overdubs to for intensity. Lyrically I sought to capture the naive excitement of two newcomers to NYC nightlife sharing in promise of the cultural riches of the big city. Where the power of the moment meets the promise of glamour and fame.”
