The Deep Blues Festival in Bayport MN was a collection of amazing talent, great people and badass BBQ. Curated by Chris Johnson of the Bayport BBQ the fest lasted three days, endured a huge storm and power outtage, and brought the best of international outsider blues to the twin cities area. Clarksdale 2014!!!!

Last night was a special night. It was the kickoff of a new monthly party called Blue Tuesdays at the historic downtown rock & roll bar Manitoba’s. Along with a bunch of The Dead Exs fans, hanging tight were über babe of Californication and Zero Hour Addison Timlin, party harder bad boy Andrew WK, and the rock stalwart himself Handsome Dick Manitoba. Pattillo played a rippin 1 1/2 hour set of Dead Exs tunes as well as some classic Jimmy Reed, Ray Charles and Lightnin’ Hopkins. Next stop The Dead Exs play MON FEB 11 at Mercury Lounge with Brothers NY and Daddy Long Legs. More shows listed here.

Elmore Magazine in their May/June issue profiles Band Bang Boogaloo as a tastemaker for up and coming hard hitting roots rock and roll. Its been one intense week…we are sending positive healing wishes to the people of Japan especially those of the North East region, and helping by making donations to The Red Cross. The earth has shifted on its axis and the coastlines are being redefined. Mother Nature has asserted herself as queen and will rule as we continue to redefine what is meaningful in our lives.
Here in the states we are watching the unravelling of the human tsunami Charlie Sheen who has flipped the media on its head either by deft hyperbole or a personal manic überman disorder. Whether or not we believe what we see there is truth and lessons to learn, and one hell of a post modern anthropological conundrum.
In NYC our immediate world was much different. We enjoyed an amazing night at The Bowery Electric with our friends at The Passenger NYC, The Dead Exs, The Fieros, and The Othermen. We toasted the week with a healthy shout out and airplay of The Dead Exs “More Stuff” on East Village Radio. Pretty sweet for just a couple of kids having fun.
