Thanks to the amazing contributors of h1tchr (pronounced hitcher) there is now a website where you can find and contribute to user generated h1tchmaps of songs that sound similar or share certain commonalities like melody, beat or lyrics. You can also connect cover songs, and songs that contain samples. While other sites like soundsjustlike will compare two songs, h1tchr lets you make entire maps of music. Check it out here. h1tchr was created by David Pattillo founder of Bang Bang Boogaloo.
Loving this new Peter Joseph series
If you are a fan of Zeitgeist the movie and know a bit about the concepts behind it, you will really enjoy these shorts by the Zeitgeist director Peter Joseph. In plain speak and a good sense of humor, he tackles some powerful issues like democracy, economics, Consumption Vanity Disorder, The War On Nature, and more in this ongoing series called Culture In Decline. Here is part 1 which define democracy or the illusion of democracy we have in America today.
Amazing story of the Rockaways before and after Hurricane Sandy. Powerful stuff.
The Dead Exs actually played for this surfing community back on October 29, 2012, 1 night before the storm. Even Simon who is reference n the video several times jammed with the band on stage. It was an amazing night. Everybody knew of the storm coming but nobody had any idea how bad it would be. Take 10 minutes and watch this film…beautifully done… elquent. We send our prayers and best wishes to the entire community of the Rockaways.

Elmore Magazine says “Bang Bang Boogaloo is where its at!”
Elmore Magazine in their May/June issue profiles Band Bang Boogaloo as a tastemaker for up and coming hard hitting roots rock and roll. In an issue that features some of the greatest guitar players on the planet, we got a very nice toast. “The BBB Launch Party heralded a hefty bill of New York’s best yet-to-be-discovered acts like The Fieros, The Othermen, and Pattillo’s own gutter-blues band, The Dead Exs.” Thanks to writer Lara Hemingway for a sweet write up.
Click the pic to hit their site…but you gotta get the mag as they don’t post on the web. Visit your neighborhood newsstand.
The Dead Exs get a feature and rock Asbury Park March 23.
What a week
Its been one intense week…we are sending positive healing wishes to the people of Japan especially those of the North East region, and helping by making donations to The Red Cross. The earth has shifted on its axis and the coastlines are being redefined. Mother Nature has asserted herself as queen and will rule as we continue to redefine what is meaningful in our lives.
Here in the states we are watching the unravelling of the human tsunami Charlie Sheen who has flipped the media on its head either by deft hyperbole or a personal manic überman disorder. Whether or not we believe what we see there is truth and lessons to learn, and one hell of a post modern anthropological conundrum.
In NYC our immediate world was much different. We enjoyed an amazing night at The Bowery Electric with our friends at The Passenger NYC, The Dead Exs, The Fieros, and The Othermen. We toasted the week with a healthy shout out and airplay of The Dead Exs “More Stuff” on East Village Radio. Pretty sweet for just a couple of kids having fun. Here are some pictures from the event from the amazing Kristin Viens and even more here.
